Aintitcoolnews.com are reporting that Sigourney Weaver may indeed be in Avatar. After stating on a French chat show that a new Alien film is a no go, Weaver did say she is making a new sci-fi film with James Cameron. Speculation only increases, is it Avatar or could it possibly be Battle Angel?

Latinoreview.com is also reporting that Michael Biehn may be about to join the cast of Avatar. This would come as no surprise since Biehn and Cameron have a history working together (Terminator, Aliens, Abyss and T2). Lets hope he lands the role of Quaritch, the seasoned Marine Corps Colonel.

As soon as we know, you’ll know.

Ten years after we first heard rumours about Avatar, 20th Century Fox head honchos Tom Rothman and Jim Gianopulos have stated that Avatar has indeed been given the green light.
Nothing we didn’t know already, since pre-production began a while ago and WETA have been hard at work on the visual effect for sometime now.
Principal photography will start around April with a wrap set for November. From there on its a further year and half for the visual effects and a planned Memorial Day release in America 2009.

Formally known as Project 880 Avatar has been green lit with a budget of $200 million dollars and will require 1000 - 2000 cinemas in the US to be set up in accordance with the requirements of Cameron’s 3D technology. What this means exactly hasn't yet been disclosed and its also unknown how many foreign cinemas will be able to screen the movie. However with over two years to go Cameron and Fox have enough time to rally the troops and push cinema chains into a much needed modern over haul.

IMDB is reporting that Spanish star Lola Herrera has been cast as Veronica Walsh. Little is known about the character at this point, but Lola is considered to be one of España’s greatest actresses, last seen in Ridley Scott’s ‘A Good Year’ and the Spanish series ‘Un Paso adelante’.

A few days ago Sigourney Weaver finally confirmed the rumours about her involvement in Avatar during an interview with French newspaper Metro. Whilst promoting her new film Snow Cake, Weaver said that she would “be working with Cameron again on Avatar”. Nothing much else was given away other than that she will play both a human and a “superb creature in 3D”.  There has been no conformation of her character although it is expected to be that of Grace, Jake’’s mentor.
